My name is Katie Martin, Co-Owner of KB&Co. I am 28 years old and have lived in Iowa my entire life. I’m pretty close with my mom and dad; they were very supportive growing up and continue to support me in whatever I do.  I have a 25-year-old sister, Brianna, a 29-year-old brother, Ryan and a 32-year-old half sister, Marie. I became an aunt and godmother in 2016 to my beautiful niece, Ellyse. My boyfriend Dylan and I have been together for about 5 years. I'm thankful to have such a hardworking and supportive guy by my side. I received my bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Dubuque. I currently work full time as an Executive Administrative Assistant. In my free time, I love making memories with my niece, spending time with my friends and family, laying by the pool, having drinks and grilling out.

Growing up, I wanted to be a nurse. As I got older and started college, I realized that wasn’t what I wanted to do in life. I changed my major to business because I knew I could use the skills I’d learn in many areas and as time went on, the idea of owning a business grew on me. After graduation, Brittany and I took the leap and started our business journey with KB&Co.

There were a lot of ups and downs during the first year of launching our business. Brittany and I both knew that owning a business would come with a lot of stress and anxiety. What we didn't expect though, was to go through some of the hardest times in our lives during this new beginning. The hard times have made me realize that we are no different than anyone else, we all deal with challenges in life. My advice to anyone who is struggling to keep going is to be grateful for what's in front of you and take care of yourself first. Set aside time for self-care and self-love and surround yourself with positive people. You are in control of your own happiness and if you don’t make the decision to get up each day and make it a positive one, who is going to do it for you?

My name is Brittany Harbert, Co-Owner of KB&Co. I am 27 years old and I was born in Grapeland, Texas. My mom raised me in Iowa, and she's been my biggest support system and cheerleader in life. My siblings live in Indiana.  I have two half-brothers, Justin and Brandon, a half-sister, Ashley, and a one-year old niece, Ella. I'm also blessed to have the BEST group of girlfriends anyone could ask for. In 2017, I graduated from the University of Dubuque. I received my bachelor’s degree in business administration, with an emphasis in Human Resources.  In my free time, I like to shop (of course), hang out with friends, do anything outdoors, golf, and drink beer. I’ve always been a hard worker; I currently work full-time as a Corporate Training Specialist. I also still work part-time at a Supper Club I’ve been at for the past seven years.

I first found a true passion for fashion when I worked in clothing retail right after high school. I’ve always had a dream of owning my own business and being my own boss. Being able to collaborate with Katie has without a doubt been one of the best, most enjoyable experiences of my life. It has also brought on a lot of stress, insecure moments and thoughts of “am I in over my head?” But, for those times I am thankful. I am thankful that I’ve learned nothing comes easy. It takes hard work and dedication, but if you’re willing to work for it, it will be worth it. My advice to anyone with a dream is to GO for it!! Start taking those steps to turn your dream into a reality. Your new life could start today, but only with you!

So happy for you and all your success. You have come a long way since those days at Sedgwick. We had some good times and laughs. I think about those days often, going to school, working full-time. What got me through it was knowing that when I came to work, there was always a smiling face, yours. I miss you very much. I am happy for you. You deserve all your success and happiness. You are truely blessed. Always your friend, no matter the distance..tina
